Louis C.K., the funny phenomenon

From fatal nut allergies to soldiers lost in war to slavery… If there’s one thing almost all of us seem to agree on, it’s that these are dark times. And what better way to deal with all of these issues at once, than by sitting down for some good old Louis C.K.

Louis C.K. is the type of comedian that does not shy away from dealing with political and social topics. What’s so great about him, is that he never does this in a condescending or belittling way. He turns self-doubt into a very powerful and funny mirror for the audience and society to look in. But don’t be mistaken, his humble humor can hit very hard and often runs off the tracks. A great example of this, is his famous ‘Of course, but maybe…’ skit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O5h4enjrHw.

We’re surely not too far off if we declare Louis C.K. a phenomenon. Not only does he tour the world with his stand-up shows. He also creates, writes, directs and acts in his own series Louie and Horace and Pete. The latter series he released himself last year through his website, offering episodes for download for just a few bucks and also stars Steve Buscemi among others. Whereas his live shows, in good stand-up fashion, often thrive on the effects of speed and shock, his series show him taking more time and calm to tell the story. This hilarious dialogue about (trans) sexuality illustrates this perfectly: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KHrXtzYC0Jc.

Hungry for more? His website LouisCK.net offers all his shows and series. And you don’t want to miss out on his newsletter, through which he not only informs you of what he’s up to but also offers his views on the current state of affairs in a very personal and laughable way.
