SUSAN BIJL for Boijmans Van Beuningen

Finally! After many, many, MANY requests, The New Shopping Bag in Mirror & Agaat is back on June 19th. Together with this happy news, we are also very honoured to announce that the silver bag and five prototypes of The New Shopping Bag will be included in the collection of Boijmans Van Beuningen.

Collection Boijmans Van Beuningen

Five early editions of The New Shopping Bag from around 2000 will soon be included in the museum's collection. It's pretty unreal to become part of a collection of influential Rotterdam designers like Studio Wieki Somers, Bertjan Pot and Hella Jongerius. The Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen will place and take care of our shopping bags in their synthetic compartment, next to more than 151.000 art objects.

Pop-up store Depot 19 & 20 June

Depot Boijmans Van Beuningen will open its doors for two days to celebrate the collaboration and the accessioning of The New Shopping Bag into their official collection. A pop-up store, entirely devoted to our collaboration bag, will be visitable in the impressive entrance, designed by artist John Körmeling.

The silver edition of The New Shopping Bag will be for sale in the pop-up shop. The doors open from 11:00 - 15:00 on June 19 & 20. After this weekend, the doors won't open until the official opening on November 6, 2021.

The bag will also be available online at SUSANBIJL.COM and in SUSAN BIJL stores; everything opens at 10 am on June 19th.

We can't take any reservations for the silver shopping bag. We will maintain a maximum of 1 medium (€29,90) and 1 large (€34,90) shopping bag per person at all locations.

Museumpark

Jan Bijl photographed the silver shopping bag in the hands of the beautiful people of Museumpark. Located right next to the Depot, the park is a gathering place for skaters, rollerskaters, hula-hoopers, dancers; teenagers and adults alike. The big coloured asphalt creates a unique spot in Rotterdam, where everyone is welcome and accepted to practice and chill.

Now, the Gemeente Rotterdam is redeveloping the plaza for the worse. Read more and sign the petition here
