This year, we are touring Japan! After a successful landing in Tokyo with our friends at A-Gent, we are passing through Hasami, located in the south of Japan, on the second biggest isle Kyushu. We are invited by Maruhiro to display our products in their store at Hiroppa Park.
Hiroppa
The park is an initiative where local goods, art, nature, food and music come together in an open-spaced area. The park is dotted with objects, art and murals and is a place playfulness and fun, intended for the next generation to discover and to celebrate the craftsmanship of the area. There is a cafe, store and a beautiful Japanese-style house for special events and artists in residencies.
The landscape changes with the seasons, so you can experience a different park each time you visit. Various kinds of trees, such as cherry blossoms, autumn leaves, kiwis, apples, peaches, cherries, and walnuts, can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Maruhiro Store
The Maruhiro Store offers art, design and unique pottery made in the area, which is known for its ceramics production. 'Hasami ware' is a general term for pottery produced in Hasami Town, Higashisonogi District, Nagasaki Prefecture. This traditional craft has existed for 400 years since the Edo period. Porcelain tableware was expensive at the time, and the mass production in this area made the products popular with common people. Hasami Town has produced a lot of daily wares for the masses since then. Even today, 20% of the everyday tableware in Japan is made there!
Maruhiro Store also creates products for their brand, which collaborates with artists from Japan and abroad and offers a wide range of items, from stickers to keychains to buckwheat noodles.
We are super excited to meet the people of Hasami-yaki in the beautiful space of Maruhiro and introduce them to our range of designs! The pop-up store is open from May 26th till June 8th.
