At SUSAN BIJL, form follows function. We are guided by Bauhaus principles, where functionality and clarity are at the core of every design. Colour is used to emphasise the shape and structure of our products.

Form 25: form redefined through colour

Form 25 follows the Flash collection, which celebrates 25 years of our iconic composition: two colours divided into three planes by the Flash—our signature graphic element. In contrast, the autumn collection Form 25 presents an entirely new expression, where the Flash remains deliberately hidden.

We explored new ways of working with colour, where The Flash did not define the division. Instead of two colours, we chose predominantly one or three. The monochrome version takes centre stage, highlighting the contours of the bag, with the Flash visible only in its construction—the result: a fresh reinterpretation of our iconic bags.

This collection highlights the underlying structure of our designs, setting the tone for our final release of the year.

The New Trash Bag: now in medium

This collection introduces The New Trash Bag in medium, an alternative to our medium shopping bag. It holds more and is weather-resistant, thanks to its drawstring closing and waterproof fabrics. Based on the design of The New Shopping Bag, we adapted it into a more wearable over-the-shoulder style with sturdy handles. A bag designed to be your daily carry, not just one you keep tucked away for when needed.

Form 25 introduces an extended collection of bags, accompanied by a selection of Artek furniture items curated by Susan. Connected by timeless design, Artek and SUSAN BIJL come together in these iconic items. The Artek philosophy is to design for longevity – versatile, functional, and durable. One chair is enough; one bag is enough.

Susan selected Stool 60, Aalto Table half-round and Table 90D, all designs from Alvar Aalto (1933). The same colours from the bag collection are used for these items, creating a new interpretation of these interior staples.
