A short story about SUSAN BIJL’s fabric and fabrication
Our products don’t grow on trees to be delivered to us by storks. This you must be certain of, but you might still wonder what actually happens before our bags find their way to us and you. In our cause for a more sustainable world, transparency is an important tool, so we’re happy to give you more insight into the production of our sustainable bags.
SUSAN BIJL teams up with Michiel Schuurman for ‘No Signal’ collection
Titled ‘No Signal’, the series contains new versions of SUSAN BIJL classics The New Shoppingbag (medium and large), The New Pouch (medium) and The Long Strap, that – typically for Michiel Schuurman’s work – cross the boundaries between media, using patterns based on the classic test card and white noise of television screens.
Cool to school with our medium backpack
We are over the moon with the launch of the medium edition of The New Foldable Backpack next week. Having three school going kids ourselves we were looking for a colourful product that brings comfort and joy to the summer and school days. We are very happy that this is exactly what the medium The New Foldable Backpack offers.
SUSAN BIJL x Bertjan Pot: more colourful than ever

We have a winner!
This summer we did a design workshop with kids from our hometown Rotterdam. Today we decided who won the contest of best pattern design for The New Shoppingbag!
We’re open!
It has been quite the changeful and exciting year for us at SUSAN BIJL. First we presented a new collection of The New Shoppingbag, named Horizons. We’ve talked about that on this blog earlier this year. We also started working with a new logo and a new design for our company. Last month we asked Pieter Vos from designers’ 75B to shed some light on this transition.

Along with our new collection Horizons Susan Bijl also presents a new company logo. Previous logos were designed by artist duo De Humobisten and design company Studio Beige, both based in Rotterdam. The new image was designed by the company 75B – a renowned collective of designers that take graphic design and corporate identity just a little step further.
Horizons and colours
This spring Susan Bijl brings you a brand new collection of The New Shoppingbag. It was named Horizons and offers you a total of 24 new colour combinations to brighten your world. But how does one choose one colour over the other? And why the title Horizons? A little look inside behind the scenes at Susan Bijl.
