In light of our limited collection in collaboration with Operator, we’ve approached DJs representing different aspects of Rotterdam nightlife and talked to them about what brings colour to their lives. For this edition, we spoke to Daniel van den Broeke aka Daan Draait. Alongside DJ-ing, he keeps himself busy with film and music production, performance art, kids shows and art events. You will most likely know him as one of the founders of The Performance Bar, the most exciting place for performance art in Rotterdam and beyond.

Where are you now?
Riding the wave of The Performance Bar, a very open-minded performance and music venue that we started a few years ago.
What’s always in your bag when you go to a gig?
My make-up and my memory stick. And some deodorant, of course.
What ecological measures would you take if you ruled the world?
Radical halt to all damaging processes, money and greed is the only reason this is not happening already.
How do you brighten up your existence?
By seeing life as a great adventure and allowing myself to make creative choices.
Describe your perfect night out.
Open-minded party people, skilled DJ's on the line-up and a quality sound system in a club that takes care of their visitors.
What is your guilty pleasure?
I never feel guilty when experiencing pleasure.
Which music have you been listening to recently?
I have been more and more into peak-time techno music lately.
What is your ultimate destination?
Death? Or beyond : )
